What I’m doing now

UPDATED NOVEMBER 9, 2024

AT WORK

3 days a week I’m the Creative Director at Good Roots. We used to be two companies; we launched as Good Roots in October and I’m really proud of the rebrand. I was in charge of our brand story, art direction for all brand assets, the website design, web copy, and managing the team that coded the site (who did an amazing job).

For clients, I’ve been doing a lot of brand positioning and messaging, campaign messaging, website mockups, and marketing consulting. Some recent clients include Jackson Hole Buffalo Meat Co. (a ranch and specialty meat brand based in Wyoming); Subarashii Kudamono (an Asian Pear orchard based in Pennsylvania), DGA (a non-profit based in Wisconsin promoting dairy grazing), Savanna Institute (a nonprofit supporting perennial farming in the Midwest), and Red Dog Market (a farm and small grocery in Pennsylvania). My clients are the best!

NOT AT WORK

I’m almost finished with Write of Passage, an (intense!) 5-week cohort-based program for writers who want to publish more online. It’s been a challenge to balance the workload, but I’m about to publish my second essay in 5 weeks and that feels good. Writing is important to me.

I’ve been stepping out more on social media, experimenting with content types and subjects (and leaning into my love of personal style for the first time). Instagram has changed a LOT since I last used it in 2021. It’s been fun to be creative and a helpful education that serves my clients who use Instagram, too.

I designed these jackets and sold a handful last month. They are being sewn right now and I can’t wait to mail them to their new homes.

My kids are 3 and 1 now. I’m relieved to be past the worst of baby sleep, and excited for my youngest to communicate more and more. Being a mom is seriously the best.

My art studio and home office is almost framed in. Since my Wifi quit working at the desk in my bedroom, I’ve been taking client meetings from my couch. Art projects happen on the floor or at the dining room table. It will be so good to get into my own space!

This “now” page, inspired by Derek Sivers, is a place to keep people updated on my real life, professional and personal. See how other people live.
